How to Use this Planner

MAP YOUR BUSINESS SUCCESS is more than a typical planner meant to record future activities. Rather, this planner acts as a roadmap to for achieving your business goals.

In the first section, “Run a S.M.A.R.T. Business,” you’ll learn how to set an effective goal. You will use this type of goal setting throughout the planner.

The next section, Annual Business Goals, begins with laying out your 10-Year Vision. All the goals and actions steps you make in this planner all focus on moving you closer to your 10-Year Vision for your business.

The goals you’ll identify in this section are divided into two areas, Primary Goals and Secondary Objectives. Primary Goals refers to the ultimate outcomes you want for your business over the next 12 months. These goals tend to be very transparent. When creating action steps, ask yourself “How does this step directly help me achieve my goal?”

Secondary Objectives can be equally as important to the success of your business as Primary Goals. Secondary Objectives add value to your business in a way that can provide long-reaching impacts. Create tasks associated with Secondary Objectives to create wins that aren’t imperative to accomplishing your Primary Goals or the vision you have for your business. Often times, achieving a Secondary Objective provides the psychological boost that fights the burnout and frustrations of not realizing immediate results with Primary Goals.

Example of Primary Goal vs Secondary Objective:

I decide to attend a networking mixer to develop new business contacts (primary objective) and obtain referrals (primary objective). As result of going to the mixer, I have a great time (secondary objective) and gain valuable tips from experienced business owners (secondary objective).

Once you’ve solidified your goals and action steps, it’s time to implement your plan. Your planner is broken into Quarters, Months, Weeks, and Daily Tasks. The planner is aimed at keeping you focused without overwhelming you. Therefore, do not work ahead in your planner. Concentrate on the current quarter, month, and week. At the end of each business day, plan out your activities for the following day.

By consistently using your planner you will be able to MAP YOUR BUSINESS SUCCESS and move closer to the vision you have for your business
